I know you’re fiercely independent. Everything you’ve achieved in your life so far has been down to you, your hard work, your grit, your determination, your fight.
But what if it didn’t have to be so hard?
Imagine going into work every day feeling strong, empowered, relaxed & excited to see what opportunities & challenges are there for you to get your teeth stuck into - imagine how much better you could perform.
Imagine knowing that in the midst of the chaos, you’re surrounded by a team & boss that make you feel capable, supported & safe - imagine what kind of inspired, innovative ideas you could bring to the table.
An environment where getting it done is better than being the one who takes credit for doing it (or takes the fall if it goes wrong).
We get so caught up in the grind/hustle mentality of our culture (especially corporate culture) that we learn to believe that every achievement, all the results we see only come from hard work - so we keep working harder even if it’s on the wrong things.
And what better way to make things hard for ourselves than by doing it alone?
But you can embrace & enjoy a challenge, without feeling totally drained by it. Your work can be good, without being hard. And you don’t have to put yourself on an unreachable pedestal of perfection to do great work & see great results.
The truth is, it’s not about you (no offence). It’s not about what you look like or how you dress. It’s not about being seen online the longest or looking like the most confident one in the room. When it comes to what your boss wants to see when you ask for a promotion…
It’s about getting the job done.
Your salary is tied to the expected output or result for your role - it’s not about you, how hard you work or how many hours you put in… so if you can figure out a way to get it done faster - & more importantly - easier - good for you!
When we look at things this way, it’s much easier to see how the results we’re working towards don’t necessarily have to have been a struggle to achieve. And when we take our ego out of the equation & realise that the result is more important than the process, suddenly so many more options become available to you that will get you there in half the time (with half the stress).
I know first hand that actually changing that perspective can be much easier said than done, which is why bringing somebody on board to help you rewire your thinking & find the best way for you to make things easier while maximising your performance, is a no-brainer.
Having spent more than 60 hours coaching 1:1 clients in the last 6 months alone, I’ve seen how quickly things can change in their lives & how they’re feeling, when they invest in this kind of approach - because by having somebody to guide you & help you make sense of it all, you can really embrace a more positive mindset & see just how easy things can be for you.

So start looking for ways to get to the same result that aren’t such a drag - the quickest way to feel more compensated in your job is to cut out the crap that you don’t need to be doing (which in fact puts a spotlight on where you’re adding real value so your time feels put to much better use!)
Delegate to your team members, communicate with your clients, & cut out the busywork that’s doubling your hours & not turning into results.
Look for the solutions that get you to the outcome in the quickest time, & celebrate your achievement in getting there (rather than glorifying the hours you put in alone to do it) as well as how amazing everything turned out, because you brought in the best ideas from the best minds to get there.
You can apply this approach to making your working life easier as well as making your career journey more satisfying (& doing a better job along the way!)
Applying for a promotion doesn’t have to mean work takes over your life in the lead-up, because the only way to prove you deserve it is to show that it’s all you care about. Use your time wisely to demonstrate the experience, expertise, skills & big-picture thinking you’ve learned along the way - to show you have what it takes to deliver on the next level.
Find someone to help you see the best route to take, the one that’s going to have the biggest impact with the least effort (& time!), & hold you accountable to taking the right action to make it happen.
